This is simply called "Mixed" in Provence. It came as quite a shock, especially since we thought we ordered lasagna. We postively identified the potato but let's just say the rest was delicious and we'll leave it at that....
Take a look at THAT!

Opa!!! We had yet another themed dinner party and this time it was Greek night at our friend April's house. Everything was delicious from the ouzo meatballs to the Greek stuffed peppers. I was in charge of dessert since we couldn't find anything remotely Greek... I went with baklava- esteemed sweet of the land of the gyros. It originated in Turkey but now people think it's Greek so it is a total qualifier. I followed this recipe for baklava at Allrecipes.com and I pretty much followed it exactly for once with a couple of exceptions. Dang, I guess I didn't follow it exactly at all. Some of the reader comments suggested to either cool the baklava or the sauce before combining ( so they aren't hot together which would make for super sogginess.) I cooled the sauce. Also, for the sauce, instead of 1 cup of water to 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of honey...I used 1 1/2 cups of water to the 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of honey. It was good...went farther and a little less sweet. So, how was it? I dunno, I forgot to eat some but everyone said it was awesome and I'll trust them on it. I just don't have a sweet tooth...what can I say?It was gross...here's the stupid recipe.
Here's me exercising my Ouzo Meatball tooth:

#1. Don't look obnoxiously happy.
#2. Walk in a determined direction as though you are late.
#3. Eat something ( It also helps to be on your cell, listening to your ipod, and reading a newspaper at the same time).
I had never heard of Pinkberry and went in willing to throw my "diet" out the window. Turns out, these babies only have 70 calories and are packed with vitamins. I had an original, small, with strawberries ( I blew my cover ordering- it was like learning how to order at Starbucks all over again). I didn't want to add insult to injury so no picture was taken. It looked like this except with a ton of strawberries. Refreshingly crisp and delicately sweet.
Heartland Brewery and Rottisserie
This brewery found only in New York has a convenient location at the foot of the Empire State Building. Since they are famous for their rottisserie, that's what I ordered... and that's all I got. One big plate of half a chicken in lemon and rosemary marinade. The chicken gets two thumbs up. The presentation needs some help...especially at a price of $15.95. The location limited interaction with locals...I swore to do better next time.
Maui Taco
This little hole-in-the-wall haven was a mad house of activity. I had passed it several times while getting where I needed to go so I decided to try it. So happy I did! I had the #1 burrito at $6.95. In simple foil wrap, complimented by a full salsa bar, this burrito was pure wonder.
Well, that was it for my New York food adventure. It would be glorious to visit in the springtime in a Soho farmers market.....
Ahhh. Sweet and delicious Blackberry cobbler. I've been wanting some of this for a few days now and finally got around to making it. It's another Pioneer Woman recipe and it's easy as pie... actually, easier! Check it:

I've found that everywhere I go, I come back with more pictures of food than anything else. I also find that no matter how many hobbies I pick up, I always stick with cooking and exploring new things. Well, like fork and spoon, travel + food = a new blog to store my tasting adventures in and out of my own kitchen. Aubrey is loving this idea...
